Emma.
One of my favourite things about being a bridal hairstylist is seeing familiar faces return years later, especially when the bridesmaid from one wedding becomes the bride!
That’s exactly what happened with Emma.
I first met Emma back in May 2024 when she was a bridesmaid at a wedding I had the pleasure of working on. Fast forward two years, and this time it was Emma’s turn to be the bride!
And I was absolutely delighted when she chose me to create her bridal hair.
A beautiful Buckinghamshire wedding at Horwood House
Emma got married at the stunning Horwood House in Buckinghamshire at the beginning of June 2026.
The weather was warm, with just a little bit of wind — thankfully nothing too dramatic for a wedding day!
Her wedding morning was a lovely, intimate family affair, surrounded by her mum, her two sisters and her three-year-old daughter, Ada.
There’s something so special about wedding mornings like this. Rather than a huge bridal party, Emma’s morning was filled with the people closest to her, creating a relaxed and incredibly personal atmosphere as she got ready for the day ahead.
And then there was Ada…
Who was definitely providing the entertainment!
Planning Emma’s bridal hairstyle
During Emma’s bridal hair trial, she knew exactly what she wanted.
She had chosen a half-up, half-down wedding hairstyle, with sleek twisted sections pulled back from either side of her face. The rest of her beautifully long hair would be curled, with her veil becoming the finishing accessory.
Emma has incredibly long, thick hair, but it was all one length. During her trial, we discussed how the curls held throughout the day.
Because long, one-length hair carries a lot of weight, I explained that if the curls dropped more quickly than she wanted, adding some long layers could help remove some of that weight and give the hair more movement and texture.
Sure enough, Emma messaged me the following morning to let me know that the curls had held — but not quite as tightly as she had hoped.
So, with a visit to her regular hairstylist, she had some long layers cut into her hair before the wedding day.
And what a difference they made!
The wedding morning
The wedding morning itself was gorgeous.
It was relaxed, intimate and full of those lovely little family moments that make getting ready such a special part of the wedding day.
Emma’s mum and sisters had chosen hairstyles that complemented her own. They both opted for similar half-up, half-down hairstyles with twisted sides, creating a beautiful sense of continuity throughout the bridal party.
Her sister Lucy decided to add her own twist to the look, opting for a half-up, half-down style incorporating a miniature French twist.
And then it was finally Emma’s turn to get in the chair.
Emma’s bridal hair
Sporting her brand-new layers, Emma’s hair was ready to be transformed.
And the curls held so much better.
The added layers removed some of the weight from the ends, allowing the curls to sit beautifully while also giving the overall hairstyle much more depth, movement and volume.
We created the half-up, half-down style Emma had fallen in love with at her trial, with the sides neatly twisted back and the rest of her hair beautifully curled.
Finally, we added her cathedral-length veil, which completed the look perfectly.
She looked absolutely radiant.
A beautiful, modern bride with a hairstyle that felt elegant, effortless and completely her.
And finally… Ada’s turn!
Of course, we couldn’t forget the most excited member of the bridal party.
Ada had been eagerly waiting all morning for her turn to have her hair done. She was slightly disappointed to discover that she would be last, but the excitement of knowing her turn was coming kept her going!
And when it finally was her turn, she had her very own little half-up, half-down hairstyle, finished with a delicate plait and pretty pearl pins.
The sweetest little member of the bridal party!
From bridesmaid to bride
There’s something really special about seeing someone go from being a bridesmaid at a wedding you worked on to sitting in your chair as the bride herself.
When I met Emma in 2024, I never could have known that two years later I’d be standing alongside her again, this time creating her own bridal hairstyle in Buckinghamshire.
It’s moments like this that remind me just how personal being a wedding hairstylist can be. You’re not simply creating hairstyles. You get to meet people at one of the biggest moments of their lives, become part of their morning and, sometimes, see them again years later for another very special chapter.
Emma looked absolutely beautiful, and the photographs from her wedding day are gorgeous.
Even better, she told me they had the best day ever — which is exactly what every wedding hairstylist wants to hear!
Thank you, Emma, for choosing me to be your bridal stylist. It was such a pleasure to be part of your wedding day, and even more special knowing where our story began.
Congratulations to you and your family. 🤍
