When I think of what a fairytale wedding looks like — this is it.
Planning a wedding is never stress-free, but nothing could have prepared Emma and her fiancé for what was to come. Imagine having your dream destination wedding in France planned to perfection… only for a global pandemic to shut down the world. What started as a dream turned into two years of uncertainty, postponements, and hope.
Finally, after all the waiting, the wedding week arrived — and it was worth every second.
The Journey to France
Set in the South of France at a breathtaking French château (as seen on Channel 4’s DIY Château), the wedding weekend promised pure magic — joy, love, and laughter.
But just before the celebrations were due to begin, disaster struck again: a major cyber attack at the airports cancelled all flights! The bride and groom quickly made the decision to drive through the night just to get there — talk about determination.
I was due to fly the next day, and luckily, my flight still departed as planned (huge sigh of relief!).
The Dream Setting
The venue was every bit as stunning as you’d imagine — vineyards, lush woodland, and a private lake surrounding the château. It felt straight out of a fairytale, the perfect backdrop for a romantic destination wedding in France.
The Bridal Hair Styling
The wedding morning was warm (to say the least!) but wonderfully calm. I had Emma, her mum, and two bridesmaids to style. One bridesmaid had more hair than I’ve ever seen in my life — a stylist’s dream and challenge in one!
Bride: Emma chose a soft, romantic bridal wave, timeless and elegant. A week before, we added subtle tape extensions to give her hair extra body and fullness, ensuring the waves held perfectly throughout the day.
Bridesmaids: Both wore half-up, half-down styles with soft curls for a cohesive and effortless look.
Mum: Opted for a chic French pleat, perfectly in keeping with the elegant theme.
To tie everything together, each of them wore beautiful celestial clips featuring stars and moons — a gorgeous finishing touch.
A Wedding to Remember
The entire day felt magical, and seeing Emma’s vision come to life in such a beautiful setting was unforgettable. Flying out to be part of this destination wedding was an absolute joy, and the photos (which you can see in my gallery) capture every moment perfectly.
